Analysis of the Interplay of Formal and Informal Rules of the Provision of Social Services to the Population (the case of medical care)

Objective of the research is to examine the extent to which different types of informal payments for medical care are spread, and their interplay with various formal conditions of medical treatment financing; to study the population's attitude to formal and informal institutions of payment for medical care and their prospective change.
The project is based on the results of and adds to the project Financial Provision of State Guarantees in Public Medical Care: An Analysis of the Effects of Different Strategies.
Main results
On the basis of a specialized questionnaire, a survey was conducted in two regions already studied in the Financial Provision of State Guarantees in Public Medical Care: An Analysis of the Effects of Different Strategies project. The field research was performed by the VCIOM in December 2002. The sample was designed to represent the territorial household distribution in each of the regions, it included 1 600 respondents in one region, and 1 699 in the other.
